The web, she is a-buzz! Modern Warfare 2 is officially released. Sure, you’ve heard of this, you knew it was happening, odds are you don’t yet have a copy, cuz you’re not willing to sit in line at 10pm to buy the game at midnight.
But there’s a problem here. Hark, come hither, children, and let me tell a tale of gaming. There once was a time, I recall, where only the chosen few, who actually PLAYED games, and loved it, would stand in a line for hours like a loser to buy a new game the moment it was released. Gone are these days.
I saw this coming, and if you’re even a little aware of the history on the matter, you did too. Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition on Kijiji for $250.
This means that some little asshole decided to take one of the precious games from the store to sell it off to those of you who have a life for a profit. I realize that this is simply supply and demand, but seriously, does this send off a message to you? I’m getting mixed messages.
As I drove by the line outside of EB Games last night at 11, leaving work late, I laughed a little. I KNEW that of the 2-300(yes, HUNDRED) people standing in line, half of those were in the line to buy the game and put it on the internet the next day.
Now even this, I can look at and laugh off, shrug, and deal with it. It’s when people start taking advantage of others’ lack of knowledge on the subject for profit. I’ll refer you to THIS Kijiji(oshawa) post.
What’s wrong here? Well let me tell you. The game IS available for the PC. Ever heard of Steam? You can buy the game off of Steam any time at all. Or wait a little bit for more to come out, if you’re like me and prefer a physical copy. This person has gone out of their way to wait in line, purchase a game, then go online with it an straight out LIE to people for profit. Last I checked that was illegal.
This clearly doesn’t affect myself, or folks in the know like me. But think about it. It’s NOVEMBER. The holiday season is coming and parents are looking for gifts for their kids. The parents probably heard their kid talking about the cool new game, and how it’s not available. Mom gets desperate and buys the game for $200. Does that seem fair to you?
I dunno. Maybe I’m tired of heartless assholes. Or something.
